I am an accomplished communications professional with outstanding achievements in online project direction. I can provide vision, leadership, and hands-on management to your organization in the areas of internet strategy and website development.
I spent 15 years in the nonprofit sector and understand the unique challenges nonprofits face, as well as the rewards that come from creating web resources that advance your mission and serve your constituents.
Background
From 1996 to 2009 I managed and then directed internet operations for the Natural Resources Defense Council, the preeminent U.S. environmental advocacy group. Some of my accomplishments during that time include the following:
- Established strategic direction for NRDC’s internet activities in collaboration with communications director and institutional partners; devised procedures to facilitate department growth while ensuring consistent quality.
- Executed three redesigns of NRDC’s primary website (www.nrdc.org) over eight years to ensure that the site reflected Internet trends and best practices, supported the institution’s rapid growth, and advanced institutional goals.
- Increased website traffic, online donations, and email subscriber networks by creating innovative web-based resources. Produced “BioGems” campaign website (www.savebiogems.org) that was instrumental in rapid growth of subscriber roster from zero to half a million, doubling NRDC’s combined donor/activist base.
- Planned and produced a network of web properties to promote key institutional priorities such as reducing oil dependence (http://beyondoil.nrdc.org), curbing global warming (http://beattheheat.nrdc.org), reviving the world’s oceans (http://oceans.nrdc.org), and engaging the Hispanic community on environmental issues (http://www.nrdc.org/laondaverde). Oversaw implementation of Drupal framework for administration of multiple minisites.
